<image:title>Home - “First, seek to understand…”</image:title>
<image:caption>You can’t be helped until you’ve been heard. The way forward starts with telling me your story. From the beginning, we work together to map out all of the things that might be contributing to your pain/injury experience. Through shared decision-making, we decide which factors we can have the greatest impact on and create a plan that gives you the ability to work toward your goals on your own terms, whatever they may be.</image:caption>

<image:title>Approach - Goal-Oriented</image:title>
<image:caption>Goal setting is a hugely under-utilized component of modern rehabilitation. If we do not set our intentions, any work we do will seem arbitrary. We work together with our clients to come up with realistic goals that make sense for them. Once we have done this, we identify all of the potential barriers that we might face along the way and plan accordingly. Patients will never find themselves doing an exercise without knowing exactly why they are doing it and how it relates to their individual goals.</image:caption>

<image:title>Approach - Patient-Centered</image:title>
<image:caption>Everyone experiences pain & injury differently. We all have different goals, concerns, occupational/social circumstances, passions, and struggles. Knowing this, we don’t take a cookie-cutter approach in any aspect of patient care. Every case is a blank slate. We want to find what will work best for you, and we won’t know until we learn about you.</image:caption>

<image:title>Approach - Shared Decision-Making</image:title>
<image:caption>There are always two experts in the room. You are the expert on your experience & how your pain/injury has impacted you. We need you involved in decision-making. This is more than just a doctor telling a patient what to do. It is two people putting their heads together to find the best way forward.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pain & Rehab Coaching - Bridging The Gap…</image:title>
<image:caption>Our primary means of care is rehab coaching. Our approach is designed to take you from where you are to where you want to be. Learning as much about you as we can during our initial consultation makes this possible. The things that make you & your experience unique are what shape our approach. We factor in what provokes your symptoms, what you are apprehensive of or concerned about being able to do, what you want to be able to do, what activities/exercises you value most, what you do for work, and much more. By considering such a wide variety of factors that are unique to each individual, our approach becomes more person-centered. We aren't just guiding a painful body part; we are guiding a person dealing with pain. Just as symptoms and circumstances change throughout rehab, so does our approach. Everyone is different, and we cannot predict how you or your symptoms will respond to our plan. To reconcile this, we maintain an open line of communication and stand ready to make changes as we go.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pain & Rehab Coaching - The Coaching</image:title>
<image:caption>Our rehab exercise programming is something we may create with you as part of the coaching process. It is typically laid out in a pattern of progressions and regressions. Good rehab prescription is always scalable. You should be able to see a clear path of progressions that bring you to your desired goal when you look at your programming. Conversely, a backup plan (regressions) should always be available to you for the days when you’re not feeling your best. This way, we can continue to tolerably progress you toward your goal without putting you on the shelf every time your sensitivity flares up. This allows us to develop consistency & avoid boom-or-bust type patterns.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pain & Rehab Coaching - The Recap</image:title>
<image:caption>Everyone gets a recap (per request). This is an opportunity for you to see in writing how your provider is looking at the situation. This also gives you the opportunity to correct your provider on any misunderstandings you see, or fill in any blanks we might have overlooked.</image:caption>
